Athletics
All middle school students wishing to play a sport for Excel Academy Charter School must provide proof that they have had a health physical in the past calendar year to participate. They must provide proof of a current physical BEFORE they will be allowed to practice or compete. If your child already got a physical to compete for a club team, rec league, or other sports team, they can use that physical for the upcoming school year, no need to get another. If the physical expires before the end of a particular season or the end of the school year, a new physical must be obtained to continue. Physicals are good for a calendar year. Physicals can be performed by a physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, or certified/registered chiropractor. Physicals can be done by a family physician, Walgreens, The Little Clinic, etc., as long as it is done by one of the aforementioned providers. The purpose of mandatory physical is to allow coaches to know of any limitations your child may have, and plan practices accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Middle School Athletics: Grades 6–8
Excel Academy enters its twelfth year in the Middle School Athletic Conference, with other surrounding charter and private schools. Other teams in the league include Woodrow Wilson, Lincoln Academy, Evergreen Country Day, and Two Roads. Payment must be made before your student is issued a sports jersey. If a sports jersey is not returned there will be a $75 jersey replacement fee.
Families will receive a separate email and sign-up form for sports prior to their start date.
